More and more people are turning to the power of prayer to help them through their lives and give them faith. If you believe in the power of prayer you may want to explore the power of group prayer.

Group prayer just refers to the term when a group of people are all praying for the same common objective. Your common feature may be to help a person who has suffered tragedy and loss, a community that is shattered from the effects of natural disaster or to help you achieve happiness. The list is endless but the power is not.

To pray collectively you need to find people that are willing to share a common theme. In cases of tragedy this is not hard to do. Your local church will generally run a prayer group with this in mind. Praying as a group helps people even unrelated to a tragedy or occurrence to contribute their support and empathy.

If your theme for a prayer is not locally connected you might like to contact like minded people via the internet. There are a number of notice boards, groups and prayer boards on the internet and you are sure to find the people that you are looking for.

Once you find a group that shares your common interest you need to familiarize yourself with the groups rules. Some groups find that prayer is more effective if all members pray at the same time, others are happy as long as the theme of the prayer is followed.

If you do join a group you may want to consider writing a prayer yourself. Even if you do not have any writing experience you will find that this is quite easy to do. To make a start you just need to look at a few prayer books that you may already own for guidance, note down the points that you really want to make, for example; if you are praying for someone who is sick you might like to write down their name, the illness and the type of treatment that you are hoping that they will benefit from. Once you have noted down 3 to 5 points you just need to expand upon those a little.

Once you have finished your prayer you might like to share it with the group for inclusion at your next meeting or share it with the world via the internet. Remember if you just touch the heart of one person you have made a difference to their lives. One of the greatest things that you can do in life is share a gift from the heart and pray for someone in need.
