Know more about the Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

MAT stands for Management Aptitude Test. This is a standardized test for entry to various management schools in the country. It is conducted four times in a calendar year, mostly in the months of February, May, September and December. Applicants for this exam must have a graduate degree in any stream from a recognized university. Students in the final year can also apply for this exam. There is a minimum percentage requirement in graduation, which depends on the associate management schools.
This management entrance exam is available in two modes- Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test. Applicants can select the options depending upon the comfort level. The paper-based tests are usually held on the first Sunday of the above-mentioned months. The computer test for MAT is on Saturday.
Difference between Paper Based Test and Computer Based Test?
In a Paper-based Test, examinees have to answer the questions after getting the question paper set. Like all paper-based tests, candidates have to use the pencil or pen and write on the answer sheet provided.
In a computer-based test, the examinee sits in front of the computer and the question paper is presented in the computer monitor. The examinee submits the answers with the help of a mouse or a keyboard. All the computers in the examination hall are attached to a server.
MAT Entrance Exam is mostly for management schools across all parts of the country. All the major metros and cities have a MAT examination center. Apart from the Indian cities, MAT entrance exam has also venues in other countries. The test venues of Mat for paper based exams and computer based exams are different.
MAT Exam Format
The MAT Entrance Exam is an objective type exam. There are 5 sections in a MAT question paper with multiple choice questions. The total questions are 200 with each section having 40 question each.

MAT scores are acceptable by many institutes. The names of institutes accepting the MAT scores are available with the MAT bulletin. For detailed information, the students should go through the MAT brochure. The validity of Mat score is one year from the date for a particular session. Scores of MAT is necessary to apply for various post-graduate programs in management studies.
To get the MAT Score Card, candidates need to check the AIMA website. AIMA puts the score during the last week of the test month. The scores can be downloaded from the website with the candidate’s 9 digit roll number and 6 digit number registration form number. Candidates also receive the individual copy of the scorecard at the given postal address.
In case the original scorecard is lost or misplaced by the candidate, AIMA issues a duplicate scorecard. The candidate needs to write an application requesting for a duplicate one. This application letter should be sent along with the following documents:
• Self addressed envelope, 24cmx12cm and postage stamp of Rs 25
• Photocopy of the admit card
• Demand draft of Rs 100
