Through the many years that incense has been around, it has been used for several different things. Most recognize that it is helpful when meditating because it relaxes your mind and body, but it can also be used to help many things. To begin, as many may already know, incense helps enhance your concentration or focus level. No matter what you are doing, if you light Lotus incense it has the capability to increase mental clarity, focus and intelligence. Thus, while working on a project for work or studying something for school, it may be useful to light some Lotus incense and retain some focus. Other incenses that can help with mental clarity and focus are Mint, Ginger, Sage, Rosemary and Lemongrass.
Another example of what incense can do is heightening your creativity. Just as you may be inspired by something or taken away by a song or piece of art, incense has the capability to take you to another dream-like world. Some incense that help with this are Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lavender and Rose. If you are looking to increase your motivation, light Peppermint incense and it will help purify the air in such a way that it becomes like food for your brain and body. A benefit that you may reap from accumulating mental concentration, creativity and motivation is confidence. You will naturally gain more confidence in yourself if you have a balance of those things.
Incense also has the ability to increase sexual desire. Certain scents like Cinnamon, Jasmine, Roseroot, Patchouli, and Ylang-Ylang are capable of increasing this desire. But, if you have been meditating on your own and have gained more confidence, this also helps increase sexual desire. If you are simply looking for peace and harmony, light Jasmine, Orange or Frankincense.
Lastly, incense is used to help relieve several medical conditions. To prevent infections, you can light incense that has an antibacterial property to disinfect the germs in the environment. Such incenses as Eucalyptus, Clove, Lemon, and Thyme can help do this. To help relieve headaches, such incenses as Peppermint, Lavender, Eucalyptus, Rosemary, Birch, Frankincense, Yarrow and Vetivert can help. If you are looking for relief from depression, some mood elevating incenses are Grapefruit, Orange, Geranium, and Allspice. For insomnia relief, one may look to Lavender or Jasmine to help. In conclusion, incense can be used for much more than just meditation purposes and should be used regularly to help clear out negative energies that may be surrounding you.
