Beware of the Problems of Dehydration

Dehydration is found out to be one of the diseases that each and every person would have suffered in their lives. It is a kind of disorder where excess of water is released from the body and makes it weak. Moreover, the water that is released from the body is tending to come through sweating.  When you are going through this disorder, there are possibilities that you go through many other parallel diseases. Therefore, one needs to lead a healthy lifestyle, so that they can avoid other diseases.

Symptoms of Dehydration

There are many symptoms which would help you to define whether you are suffering from dehydration or not. Some of them are as follows.

  1. Dryness in certain parts of body

You may feel dryness on your skin and also in your mouth. In the case of dry skin, one would feel irritated and itchy. When the body loses too much of the fluid, the skin automatically turns dry as it acts as a moisturizer. Mostly, the dry mouth occurs when the salivary glands do not work efficiently, but there are rare chances of going through this problem while suffering through dehydration.

Therefore, you could take care of your skin by applying correct skin type moisturizer. Together, one can avoid taking bath in warm water. It is necessary to keep your health and lifestyle maintained to avoid such disorders.

  1. Constipation

This is another common problem that can be noticed when one is suffering through dehydration. Constipation can be said as bowel movements less than at least three times a week and also having hard and dry stool.

One can prevent this by,

  • Eating more fibre food

  • Exercise on a daily basis

  • Decreasing the consumption of alcohol

  1. Fatigue

In dehydration, one suffers from excess of fatigue or weakness or tiredness. This kind of fatigue isn’t normal and one should without giving a second thought to this problem, should immediately approach doctor’s consultancy.

One can adopt healthy food habits and having plenty amount of sleep, for your body needs appropriate amount of rest in such cases.

  1. Diarrhoea

Another possibility of having dehydration can be diarrhoea. It is a condition where one goes through watery stool on a frequent basis in a day. This is a problem which doesn’t need treatment if it gets cured within a day or two. If this goes on for more than three days, one should consult a doctor, as this could be because of food poisoning, or viral.

So, when you are feeling the pain like abdominal pain, nausea and bloating in the time of dehydration, you must intake lot of water and ORS (with the recommendation of a doctor)

  1. Decrease in Urine output

One of the major symptoms of dehydration is less amount of urine output. This can happen only when a person is experiencing dehydration, urinary tract infection, or due to consumption of certain medicines. If such a situation is seen, make sure to consult your doctor immediately.

  1. Fever

Fever can occur in a person who is suffering from dehydration. When the body temperature is found to be higher than the normal temperature, it can also be due to dehydration. There are chances that severe fever can happen due to some other serious illnesses. It would hence be advisable to consult a doctor if high fever persists.

  1. Diabetes Insipidus

Dehydration can also lead to diabetes insipidus. This disease happens when the kidney is not able to store the right amount of water. This will result in frequent urination, which can on the other hand lead to dehydration.

  1. Alcoholism

Dehydration can happen when you are an alcohol addict. Too much of alcohol dehydrates the body and it will be difficult for the person to stay healthy. The best way is to keep off from dehydration. To stay away from alcohol, getting help from any alcohol rehabilitation center would be advisable. Stay healthy and keep alcohol away from your life.

Prevention Methods of Dehydration

If not taken care of you while suffering from dehydration, it can turn into a serious and dangerous problem. Therefore, one can follow some prevention methods.

  • Limiting the intake of alcohol and sweet drinks. These drinks lead to dehydration in a short amount of time.

  • More intake of water and other fluids like soup or fresh juices.

  • Exercise on a daily basis.
