What is Physical Wellbeing? Before you can understand how to achieve it you must first determine what it means to you personally. In my opinion physical wellbeing is having enough strength to live your daily life free without having to stress about being unwell, sore or simply feeling too lazy to do something. Be assured that even lean or regular sized folks can be extremely unhealthy. A great metabolism doesn't make you a healthy person.
Motivation: This might be the single toughest thing to overcome when it comes to becoming or staying healthy. People are often overweight or lethargic because they simply can't get motivated to get out there and do the exercising they know they should. So how do you get motivated?
There are a few simple ways to get motivated to workout. Firstly you can workout with a friend, partner or even your kids. This approach is very effective as even on days when you don't feel like exercising they are able to give you that small push you need to simply do it anyhow. And there will be days like that, believe me.
Secondly you could attempt some simple subconscious triggers to help you get motivated and remain motivated. Taking a look at your self in the mirror each day to remind your self why you're working out is often effective. Just look at oneself and picture what your body will look like when you've achieved your physical health goal. And while you're standing in front of the mirror speak to yourself. Say "I will go for a walk tomorrow." 10 times to your self. Even when you don't believe it it is a established method of motivation, used by a number of the worlds most successful businessmen and women.
Working out is the key. Cardio exercises is easily the most effective way to stay in good shape. Going for walks for 15-30 minutes a day is a good method to raise the overall levels of energy every day. Therefore you're just starting out take a stroll around your block, if that is too far stroll to the corner and back again maybe once or twice. Should you get bored easily you could just walk for 15 minutes in a direction then turn around and walk back home. By doing this you can explore new roads and keep the walk exciting. Or if you shop a lot wander all the way down every department even though you don't need something there.
Some other great workouts for general physical health include cycling, running, swimming, martial arts, dance (zumba). Sports like Squash or Tennis are great also. These will give you a fast paced hour or so per week of intense workout, which over time will build up your endurance and core level of fitness.
And lastly diet is definitely important. The less 'bad' food you eat the simpler it's going to be to maintain a good physical health . Try swapping out your white bread for wholemeal. Alter your eating style. Eat simply until you're full and place the rest in the refrigerator for a snack. Try eating five times a day, this has been proven to jump start your metabolism and assist with the digestion of meals. You might also try including more fruits and vegetables in your diet.
As always a good diet and regular exercise is the key to great health. So head out there today and create some improvements. Life is waiting around for you to live it and good physical health and fitness will make sure you can for years to come.
