How does it make our skin flawless?

Cabbage can be a great food if you want to make your skin look healthier and gorgeous. It is the abundant source of vitamin C, a popular ingredient used in skin care products, which maintains the strength of the connection between our bone tissues and blood vessels. It purifies our blood and helps it in removing toxins, uric acid, and free radicals that can affect our skin in several ways like making it look dull and causing different types of skin diseases like premature aging, skin discoloration, dry skin, spots, and wrinkles. All these problems can be prevented with regular consumption of cabbage in different forms.

Special Types and Special Styles

Not just your skin, cabbage comes in such different shapes and colors that it can also make your food appear delicious and different. There are five types of cabbages available in the world.
Green cabbage, the king of all, is the one we use most commonly. It is an excellent antioxidant and helps in blood purification.
Red cabbage is similar to green one, but has dark reddish purple leaves. It makes skin healthy and cures cancer.
Savoy that comes with deep green and crinkled leaves is generally used in soups. It is an excellent remedy for stomach and lung problems.
Napa, also called a Chinese cabbage, normally used in salads, has frilly yellow-green leaves. The regular consumption of Napa helps weight loss.
Bok Choy, another type of cabbage, has very tender deep green leaves and is often used in the preparation of steamed mixed vegetable dishes. It has fewer calories and is free of fats. Also, it is full of proteins and vitamins.

How you may get benefited from them?

You may use cabbage in different ways to tackle different skin problems such as:

Acne and Pimples: Cabbage juice is a great source of sulphur, often called the agent of beauty, and thus, it can help your pimples dry and prevent more from appearing.

Premature aging: Increased exposure to ultraviolet rays in today's environment can cause the destruction of skin cells leading to premature aging. If vitamin C is consumed with vitamin A and vitamin D, they together can help you restore the connectivity of your skin tissues thereby making your skin healthier and delay this process of aging. A regular consumption of cabbage juice can fill this need for you and help you look brighter and younger.

Skin discolouration: Skin discolouration or pigmentation occur due to deficiency of vitamin D. Lack of Vitamin D can increase the levels of melanin pigment in our bodies and greater the content of melanin, darker does our skin become. A common reason for this increase in levels of melanin is high exposure to sunlight but at times, it can also be hereditary. Cabbage, being a good source of vitamin D, can help you prevent skin discoloration when consumed in the form of a soup.

Dry skin, wrinkles, and spots: Our skin tissues are delicate and require utmost care especially when they are so frequently exposed to pollution, weather changes, and stress which results in the appearance of problems like dry skin, wrinkles and dark spots. Most of these problems are caused due to deficiency of vitamin E that leads to loss of skin moisture. Cabbage can help us keep our skin moisturized as it also contains vitamin E. Cabbage can also help us relieve these problems indirectly by reducing our stress levels as it acts as a brain food because it contains vitamin K, a forgotten vitamin that helps in increasing brain strength and concentration. Consume raw cabbage in salads for best benefits.

Skin disorders: Cabbage is an excellent antioxidant and can act as a magical remedy for skin diseases. It can help cure many skin problems like eczema, acne, rashes, skin ulcers, insect bites, psoriasis, and wounds. For this, you can make a paste of cabbage leaves, tie it in a piece of cloth and apply it over the affected area of your skin for 20 minutes. You can also use leaves of cabbage directly on your skin. Regular use of this method can help you cure your skin diseases faster.

Other than giving skin benefits, cabbage also helps in improving growth of hair, keeping eyes healthy, strengthening bones and keeping a heart healthy. It also helps prevent constipation, Alzheimer’s disease, and obesity. To get the best from cabbage, it is advisable to consume it raw in salads or soups.
