Ever wondered why likes of Yuvraj Singh, Lance and Lisa Ray were able to conquer a fatal disease like cancer while so many others succumb to it? Even when the expert doctors had given up all hopes of their survival, these individuals changed their thoughts, built up their reserves of positive energy, fought the symptoms and altered their destiny. These are the real life examples of the power of subconscious mind to achieve health and well being.
The secret treasure of healthy life lies in our own mind. There are two spheres of activity within the human mind – conscious and subconscious. Conscious mind thinks logically and help us make choices. We make most of our decisions using our conscious level of mind. On the other hand, subconscious mind does not think rationally but rather accept our beliefs and faith.

Subconscious mind is like soil and our thoughts are like seeds. To get a healthy crop, we need to nourish soil, sow good seeds and remove weeds. This is exactly what is required to uncover the healing power of our subconscious mind – positive thinking, trust in oneself and right impressions. So when two people find themselves in a similar tough situation, they react differently and thus achieve different results. For example, two overweight women decided to join a health club to lose those extra kilos. One was always thinking "All these rigorous exercises and diet plans are difficult. I can't do it." While the other one constantly thought about how fit she will look after all these efforts. The second shed weight faster. By feeding negative thoughts, we block our own good.
The subconscious mind works 24/7, even when we are asleep. It controls all the vital functions of our body – breathing, heartbeat, digestion and blood circulation etc. All the unhealthy emotions, thoughts and feelings such as fear, anxiety and stress, create negative impressions on subconscious mind which again sends negative vibes to our bodily systems. This in turn results in bad health.

To enjoy health and well being, it is important to achieve perfect harmony and peace of all our bodily functions. This requires training our subconscious mind through three useful techniques, each of which is briefly discussed below:

Visualization: The best method in this regard is to visualize the state/condition in which you wish to actually see yourself. These mental images will affirm faith and self confidence, thus creating strong positive energy. According to the Law of Attraction, popularized in the movie ‘The Secret', such vibrations pull us towards what we desire.

Introspection: Another useful technique is ‘introspection', which acts as a means of communication with our inner self. It syncs our experiences, emotions, thoughts and feelings. Thus, putting our desires into words.

Meditation: Spending some quiet time, helps to relax the mind, listen to our inner thoughts and enhance concentration.

Thus, we see the crucial role played by subconscious mind for general health and well being as well as overcoming specific diseases. Visualize, introspect and mediate to unleash the hidden potential of your subconscious mind for a happier and healthier you!
