To achieve any form of success, overcome any of life's challenges and reach great heights in any facet of life, you must learn how to harness and apply the truly infinite power that lies within the mind.
However, before you can learn this, it is important that you understand the dynamic of the human brain and how it operates. An understanding of how the mind operates not only allows us to appreciate why we are conditioned to behave in certain ways, but it also allows us to understand why we hold certain beliefs about ourselves and what we are capable or incapable of achieving.
Every goal we seek to attain in life demands maximising our potential in that area of our lives, which in turn requires understanding how our minds operate in that particular area. The mind consists of 2 parts: The Conscious mind and the Subconscious mind.
The Conscious Mind part of the mind is responsible for taking in and processing new information. It is the part of the mind that is responsible for decision making and it is the part of the mind that directs your life based on the decisions you make â€" the friends you spend time with, the clothes you wear, music you listen to etc. It is the part of the mind responsible for our ability to reason and make choices. The conscious mind is capable of processing approximately 5000 pieces of information at any given time. While that may sound impressive, it is not even one fraction of what our subconscious minds can do.
Within the Subconscious mind lies the true power and infinite potential of the human mind. Unlike the conscious mind that can only process 5000 pieces of information at one time, the subconscious mind is processing over 450 billion pieces of information at any point in time (450,000,000,000 â€" just to put it in perspective).
The subconscious mind is a massive databank of ideas, beliefs and experiences. It records every single emotion and experience we have ever had since birth.
All our bodily functions is controlled by our subconscious mind from digestion to our ability to breathe without even giving it a thought. Unlike our conscious mind that is non-functional whenever we are asleep, the subconscious mind is at work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is in a state of perpetual action until the day we die.
Another astonishing characteristic of the subconscious mind is that it lacks reasoning ability and when it comes to our thoughts, only performs based on the thoughts we feed it. It just takes orders
Given the astonishing power of the subconscious mind and its potential to direct our lives toward success or failure almost automatically, learning how to harness it and direct it our bidding becomes an imperative.
