Did you ever wonder who that is in the Mirror? Well it could be your Life Coach.
Yes, the best life coach you can hire is the one looking back at you.
Life coaching is a billion dollar plus industry, so there must be a need and certainly a desire for help in living life.
If you are thinking of hiring someone to assist you with personal living; You could pay a few hundred to a few thousand dollars for this service or you could easily learn to do your own life coaching and save the money.
I'm certainly not opposed to people getting help for their personal growth. My background is teaching, counseling and psychology. I'm definitely not opposed to getting help for living your life.
I have years of experience and training for helping others; through classes, individual counseling, group counseling, and self help Ecourse and Ebooks. So I'm not opposed to people seeking help.
I am suggesting that when all the hype and dust settles. Change and growth always come from the person in the mirror.
You must be the change you wish to see in the world - Gandhi
The Ten Steps to Take to Become Your Own Life Coach Are:
1. Forgive Your Self
Before you start to change your life, you need to forgive yourself.
You must come to accept who you are.
2. Forgive Others
You must forgive others. You cannot change your life as long as you blame others and make them an excuse for your behavior.
3. Decide to Change
Before change can happen, you must make a decision to take charge of your life. Then you must make a plan.
Ask your self what is it you want out of life? Decide what you want and go for it.
4. Find a Book or a Teacher Who Inspires You
Take time each day to read something that inspires you. Commit, to an investment of ten to fifteen minutes each day for reading from an inspirational book of your choosing.
5. Commit to Keeping a Journal
Make a commitment to writing daily in your journal. Write about your daily inspirational reading, write about things you’re grateful for and write about your thoughts on God or a Higher Power in your life.
What you write is not nearly as important as the habit of writing.
6. Practice Prayer and Meditation
Commit to spending a few minutes each day in Prayer and/or meditation. You need to discover your inner spiritual self; prayer and meditation is the way to realization.
Try something as simple as closing your eyes and repeating “be still.”
7. Write Goals
Learn to set and write goals for yourself.
Life without a plan is difficult and it is going no where. Take the reins. Take control. Decide what you want and write goals to achieve it.
8. Learn to Manage Time
Time management is essential to life coaching. Plan your time and use it wisely. You only get so much of it each day. Make the most of it.
Did you know there are only 168 (one hundred sixty eight) hours in a week?
9. Take a Personal Inventory
All successful businesses take inventory. You must also take an inventory. You must get rid of damaged or out of date things in your life; in order to make room for the new.
Your inventory includes damaged or out of date thinking.
10. Make Amends and Admit When You are wrong
Learn to admit when you are wrong and immediately make an amends.
You will find a lot of similarity between the ten steps for life coaching and the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.
That's not an accident. They both work. The steps are there to help you change your life.
