India is synonymous with spiritualism and spirituality and meditation is an integral part of it. In fact meditation in India is not only a part of spiritualism but also a way of staying well. Meditating regularly has therapeutic qualities and helps in maintaining a positive disposition. Not only in India, but people all over the world are increasingly adopting this practice for keeping a stable mind.

With lifestyle patterns changing drastically the pressures borne by body and mind have assumed gigantic proportions. Lengthy working hours, sedentary habits and unregulated food intake lead to ill health. Coupled with this, there are continuous worries at both home and work place that lead to mental restlessness and anxieties. If regular exercise works as a key to good physical health, meditation works as antidote for anxious and restive minds. Meditation in India is no longer limited to saints and hermits, but is a universal phenomenon across individuals of all ages and occupations. Its positive impacts help overcome stress and keep minds unflustered even in most trying situations.

As compared to ancient periods when meditative practices were supposedly carried out by selected members, it is now open to every individual hoping to fight mental fatigue. Meditation when practiced for several days brings about significant changes in behaviour and demeanour. Difficult tasks appear easier and less stressful. With greater control over mind and emotions it becomes easier to tackle difficult problems. It is a known fact that a cool mind always helps to perceive a situation better and more logically as compared to a disturbed mind. Several feasible solutions may be worked out with a more composed mind.

Meditation in India as a mental exercise is best performed under guidance of instructors. There are numerous yoga institutes and meditation centres that offer training or classes on these practices. It is always advisable to follow these instructions as improper meditative techniques could have more harmful than beneficial results. A commendable aspect of modern day meditative practices is that they might be performed even at homes. Earlier it was prerogative that mediation in India could only be carried out in desolate or far-flung locations, such as forests and hills. However, in current times when uninhabited and undisturbed locations are gradually becoming rarer, this mental exercise can even be performed in homes. The essential per-requisite is a quiet and distraction-free ambience.

While practising meditation, it must be made sure that there is no external disturbance. Distractions and noise not only break your concentration but also keeps your mind agitated. This is undesirable in any form of meditative methods. Meditation in India is best carried out in a dark environment as this helps in increasing concentration. Another crucial aspect is your exact place of meditation. This place under all possibilities should remain unchanged. Frequent changing of place falters your concentration which is the underlining feature of meditative methods.

Many yoga institutions offer meditation classes for overall well-being of mind, body and spirit. Regular attendances of such classes help you in uplifting your deflated spirit and take a positive outlook towards life. Z Meditation conducts such sessions for willing learners.
