Coaching is a rewarding and satisfying career but it is one that is seldom maximized by most coaches. Most coaches see between ten and twenty five clients per week and that is the extent of their coaching business. This coaching business model limits your income to the number of hours you are willing to coach and the amount per session that you can charge.
Sounds Good so What is a Product?
A product is any branded educational resource such as a teleclass, telecourse, report, ebook, workbook, workshop or anything else you can produce once and sell to many people. Now I know a lot of coaches think they could not create a product but that is not true. If you have a target coaching niche then you have a passion for that niche and they have problems, challenges, and goals that they are using coaching to achieve. People will buy things that help them solve their problems.
There are some very simple ways to create products that are not complicated or technical. First, let’s take a look at some simple and quick way to make products for your coaching business.
You can provide a special report full of information on a topic or issue that is of high interest to your target coaching niche. For example, if you are a life transition coach you could do a product on how to respond to and what to do when you are laid off from a job.
Special reports can be anywhere from ten to fifty pages. Simply write the report and create a PDF file that you can deliver to customers digitally. Special Reports are generally priced fairly low around seventeen to twenty dollars per report. They are often used as the first product in your product marketing funnel.
Creating a report is easy. Just think of a common issue that people in your target coaching niche face and address it in your special report. Make sure your headline is enticing and clear about the topic. Explore the challenge and the major suffering it causes people in your target coaching niche then go on to explore the smaller pains created by the main challenge. Discussing the challenges in detail will let your target coaching niche know that you are in tune with their needs.
Next examine all the possible solutions and give directions for the client to discover additional solutions. Cite examples of how different solutions have worked for others and give directions for what actions should be taken to implement solutions.
This type of special report will help potential coaching clients get to know, like and trust you. They will see that you are a coach who is familiar with their challenges and they will know that you are a resource for solutions.
