Ayurveda is an ancient holistic healing system that diagnoses and treats the causes of ailments based on the whole Mind Body Spirit of an individual. Each individual is unique and complex to figure out what treatment method will work best for an individual's overall health and wellness. This is where Ayurveda healing system is unique and simplifies understanding the individual by creating a "Physio-Psychological" model of the person and develops a treatment plan designed uniquely for that individual.
The term "Ayurveda" comes from a combination of two Sanskrit words, which are "Ayur" or life "veda" or knowledge. As a loose translation, Ayurveda means "the knowledge of life". Generally regarded as a manual for living, Ayurveda promotes a lifestyle that is in harmony with nature. Ayurveda is devised to treat various ailments and illnesses in both physiological and psychological areas to maintain health and wellness naturally.
Ayurveda goal is to maintain or restore balance among an individual's physical, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness. One of the first things Ayurveda system is to determine the individual's "Physio-Psychological" constitution (also described as "doshas"). Doshas are made of five elements. The proportions in which these five elements are present in a person determine his or her body constitution. When these doshas are unbalanced, a person will start to exhibit disease symptoms affecting his physical health and mental wellness. Ayurveda healing system addresses the causes that create unbalance of doshas and naturally restores the balance of the doshas. As a result the disease symptoms disappear.
Food is considered medicine in Ayurveda healing system. For each body constitution, there are food recommendations. Eating foods that are favorable and avoiding or limiting foods that are unfavorable as per individual's body constitution is in true sense a "clean eating." When you eat like this, food becomes your medicine. You practice preventive care, avoid diseases, and maintain your health and wellness.
Panchakarma or detoxification procedures are natural toxin cleansing methods in Ayurveda healing system. Detoxification on a periodical basis is practiced for maintaining good health and also utilized when body is over powered with toxins showing symptoms of some illness.
Ayurveda treatment plan includes development of a lifestyle, clean eating habits (as per body constitution), and natural cleansing and detoxification procedures. Lifestyle is staying with a discipline of waking up early, yoga and meditation, exercising, and consuming suitable foods of right amount and at the right times. Lifestyle also includes daily processing of good or bad mental emotions and thoughts such that no unnecessary stress (weight) is carried on person's mind. This way Ayurveda healing promotes health and wellness in individual's entire physical, mental, intellectual, and spiritual being.
The Ayurvedic natural healing system is a true preventive care system. It guides a person to live a healthier lifestyle, prevents diseases, promotes health and wellness, and makes his or her life more meaningful and tranquil as he or she grows older.
