Attitude Is Everything

"Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." -Winston Churchill

Do you see the glass half full or half empty? Are you one of those people who can laugh at yourself and the situation or do you dig your feet in and make yourself miserable and everyone around you miserable too?

Some people think they're positive but if you heard then talk you'd wonder where they ever got that idea!

Sure little things might get under your skin when first confronted with them and you will probably have a normal reaction of either frustration or anger or whatever. But it's when you don't catch yourself and allow it to fester that it's time for an "attitude adjustment."

A friend of mine, Jeff Keller wrote the book, "Attitude is Everything." He was miserable for most of the first part of his life. Even being a successful attorney, he was basically a negative person and not much made him happy. One day it dawned on him that it wasn't what was happening in his life that made him miserable as much as it was his attitude toward everything he experienced.

Needless to say, (looking at the title of his book) he had an epiphany and his whole life changed. Now he's a well known speaker on that very topic!

It's hard to get through to some people who walk around with the ongoing attitude of "woe-is-me." It's not only frustrating to interact with them,it's very sad to watch knowing they are inflicting most of their misery onto themselves because of the attitude they have chosen to hold onto.

It wasn't until Jeff realized that it was his attitude about everything that was causing him so much pain that he could actually do something about it.

As a matter of fact he had a pretty good life and nothing was really happening to him, but his negative attitude kept him in the victim mentality causing him to feel like everything and everyone was against him.

In my last blog I talked about the power of your words. Everything boils down to what you are saying to yourself about any given situation.

The words you choose and how you choose to view any circumstance is going to create your attitude towards it. It really is about choice. It's not what happens to us in life that matters as much as how we choose to perceive it.

As the saying goes, "You can make Heaven out of hell or hell out of Heaven."

So why not learn how to live with a new attitude? Why continue walking down "Negative Alley" and "Life Sucks Blvd?" Choose a new path.

When you live with a bad attitude, no matter what happens, you miss out on the fun. You miss out on the real joy of life and you miss out on living a better life. You won't be able to laugh at yourself and you may not laugh at much because you're so busy finding fault with everything.

So, if you find yourself walking around this earth and everything is a drag, this is your wake-up call...you are the drag!

You are dragging yourself down a path that isn't worth the walk. You are dragging down your attitude with negative, limiting thoughts that will never allow you to really enjoy life. And, you are dragging around an aura that doesn't make you very much fun to be around.

Today is the day to start a new journey. Cop a new attitude. Make it a better one and you will see the whole world will start to look different. When your attitude changes, so will your view! Attitude really is everything.
