How to Use Creative Visualization for Success

Some people talk about creative visualization, as though it is an art form. But, you don't need to be an artist to do it. You just need to use your imagination. Everyone has an imagination. Some people just fail to use it.

With lack of use, a person's imagination can stop working well. It's like a muscle that becomes weak when it is rarely used or a joint that becomes stiff from sitting in the same position for a long period of time.

Before a strenuous work out, you would want to warm up your muscles. You may need to warm up your imagination before creative visualization becomes easy for you. So, here's an effective warm-up.

When you are getting ready for bed tonight, turn off the TV. Turn down the lighting and picture something simple with your mind. For example, try to "see" yourself as you currently look in the mirror. From your memories, you can picture other things around the house as they really are. You can bring up a picture of the car that you are currently driving.

All of those things should be relatively easy to visualize because they are realities. You have actually seen them. Now, once you get the hang of picturing things in your mind, start "changing" them.

For example, let's say that you don't like the way that you look in the mirror, because you need to lose some weight. Start visualizing yourself as you will look when you are thinner. Perhaps you don't like the car that you drive. Visualize the car of your dreams and put yourself behind the wheel.

What is the purpose of this exercise? Creative visualization is a big part of getting what you want in life. There are some "real" tools that you can use, as well.

Find a real picture of the car of your dreams and put it on your refrigerator. Find a picture of the house of your dreams and put it next to the car. Next to those pictures, put up a picture of someone that you admire, because they seem to "have it all".

By keeping these real pictures somewhere that you'll see often, it will become easier for you to visualize how you want your life to be. But, remember that creative visualization is only one of the secrets of successful people. There are other things to learn, too.
