Heath is wealth, they say and this is indeed, true. With the many distractions in life and with the many activities that a human being does every single day, they sometimes forget about their health. It can be because they are more focused on other things such as work, relationships, family, etc. However, health should still be your top priority because a good health will let you do all the things that you want to do. It is very possible that you maintain a healthy life whilst doing your thing.

Plenty of water

So, how do you start living a healthy life? Let’s start with drinking plenty of water. 8 glasses a day is enough but drinking more is better. However, not everyone has a taste for water. Okay, it doesn’t taste anything at all but for some, they don’t like something with any taste. Don’t worry, because you can spruce it up by adding taste to it:

Fresh fruits – Citrus fruits paired with water is wonderful. You can try adding a lemon, lime or maybe an orange? You can also add some strawberries or raspberries. If you want something refreshing, you can go for fresh mint or cucumber.
Bubbly like champagne – there are some people who prefers their water sparkling because they find this more inspiring to drink. If you are one of them, you can go for a natural effervescent mineral water, which has added minerals that your body can benefit from as well. A bubbly seltzer would be great too.
A couple of ice – when you’re thirsty, all you can imagine is ice water and if you are not a water drinker, put some ice on it. This will tempt you to drink more water. There are also flavored ice cubes that you can try.
A cup of tea – stick to herbal, fruit, green, white and red teas because these are better for you. There are also numerous flavors for you to choose from.

Drinking water is very important and if you want to start living a healthy life, start with this and make it a habit.

Healthy Diet

Did you expect it? Of course you did! A healthy diet is a-must when it comes to healthy living. Remember, you are what you eat. So, if you eat healthy then you’re healthy! If you’re familiar with the pyramid, then this is the perfect meal plan for you.

Eat grains – at least 6 to 8 servings of grains will be great. This can be rice, cereal, pasta, and bread and do have some whole grains as well.
Fruits and vegetables – 2 to 4 servings of fruits are highly recommended and for the vegetables, throw in 4 to 6 servings. There are a lot of vitamins and nutrients that you can get from fruits and vegetables, so make sure that you get your daily dose of fruits and veggies a day.
Dairy – get yourself 2 to 3 servings of milk, cheese or yogurt. Stick to fat-free dairy products.
Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts – at least 2 to 3 servings of any of these a day will be awesome. For poultry, meat and fish, the best way to prepare them is to broil or bake them. When preparing them, make sure that you remove the fat or skin before you cook them. Sprinkle them with herbs and if you are to marinade them, go fat-free.
Sweets, oils and fats – aren’t you so happy to see this? Yes, you can still eat them but in moderation.

Exercise and get fit

Daily exercise releases happy hormones and you will definitely feel very happy and relaxed. You don’t have to strain yourself when it comes to exercising but at least exercise every single day if you can. It can be a simple walk or jogging for 30 minutes or an hour. You can also hit the gym or if you have other exercise regimens in mind, then go ahead and do it. If you’re not into exercising, you should look for something that you will enjoy and will keep you active. For example, you’re not into running or other strenuous activities, why don’t you hit a yoga studio instead? There are a lot of ways to exercise and you can even do it from the comforts of your own home! Exercising will help your body a lot and it will keep you fit and it can even help you lose weight. Don’t skip on it; it’s good for you.

Now, it’s time that you get a move on and start doing all these things! They are pretty easy. You just have to have patience, determination and motivation to do all these. Take it one step at a time and you will get used to it sooner or later. A healthy life will make you happy and there’s something very fulfilling about it.
