It’s no secret that keeping a good mental attitude is important in life. Listed here are three optimistic thinking pointers that will keep your spirits up during tough times. It can be tough to have a positive outlook on life, when life's situations don't go your way.

The very first of my staying positive advice is to get in the habit of asking yourself the right questions. What exactly am I talking about? In retrospect, our mentality is for the most part controlled by the questions we ask ourselves on a regular basis. Sounds ridiculous? Pay attention to your thoughts and emotions for an hour or so. A whole lot of people today commonly make the same mistake of asking themselves the wrong questions. Things like “Why does this always happen to me?” or “How come life has to be so hard?” These questions are based on the assumption that bad situations alway happens to you and that life is tough. Beliefs like these will only reaffirm this to you and becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

In lieu, try asking questions that would be more beneficial to you. Maybe things like “How did I get to be so fortunate?” or “What can I be excited about today?” These reinforce even more positive beliefs into your mind and enable you stay positive. It might be challenging at first to shift your thought process (since you've been thinking and asking yourself the same style of questions for awhile), but is the results are worth it.

Another positive thinking tip is to keep track of all the things you are thankful for in a gratitude journal. This could be as simple and easy as keeping a little journal by your bed and writing down everything you are thankful for that occurred to you that day. Just jot down a page or a certain number of things that you are grateful for in your life. What you write down can be as simple as "I'm thankful I woke up this morning" or "I'm thankful it was a sunny and beautiful day". I remember once I wrote down “I am grateful I caught the bus to work just in time today” and then the next day I wrote “I am grateful I missed the bus because it gave me time to read the newspaper in a cafe while I waited for the next bus.” If you do this enough you will start to realize that there is an upside to everything in life and you can start to grasp a positive mental attitude.

My last positive thinking tip is to write down what you want your life to be like. Write it out in pain-staking detail. In my experience with this, I wrote as much as ten pages worth of information on how I want my life to be. I described where I wanted to live, how much money I wanted to make, what I wanted to do for work, and all the wonderful places I would journey to. Doing this may take some time, but it will make you feel so great and so determined to make your dreams come true, that I firmly suggest you find the time to give it a shot.

Follow my advice and soon you start to see life in a different perspective. And relying on that foundation of positive thinking, you can easily work miracles in your life and accomplish things that you never thought were possible.
