Overcoming Anxiety Disorder – Techniques and Methods

Anxiety disorders is known to be a condition both involving psychological and chemical situations in which the person suffering experiences great fear, high level of worry and tension in association with different things of every day life. Anxiety disorder is divided into three types and the most common and often used to be a synonym of anxiety disorder itself is panic disorder, which is characterized by such signs as severe chest pain, abdominal distress, shortness of breath and the likes. They generally do not show any side effects but even if they do show any signs of side effects it is still not considered to be wise to stop having them.  Benzodiazepines: These drugs are used to treat panic disorders and also for other such disorders namely social fear. They are said to work very fast and sometimes do show side effects like lethargy. They even have the tendency of habit – forming.  TCAs: They start working in two to three weeks of their consumption. These drugs also show side effects like drowsiness, dizziness and even weight gain and impaired sexual function.  Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors: Used to treat panic disorder, these drugs require some dietary limitations, like do away with wine, beer, cheeses, and the likes. Doctors generally suggest this medicine as a last resort.  SRIs: They work in correcting the chemical imbalance of brain, responsible for anxiety disorders, depressions panic, and the likes. Here are two types of SRIs namely; selective Serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and Serotonin – norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). Apart from anxiety disorder medications there is another form of techniques used in overcoming anxiety disorder called meditation and other relaxing techniques. Researchers have shown that meditation and other relaxing techniques works really wonder on people suffering from anxiety disorders. 10 mins of meditation every day can help to reduce many problems including anxiety disorders. A sudden exposure to stress makes us to response with a characteristic fight response, which is often termed as adrenaline rush because norepinephrine and epinephrine are said to release from the adrenal glands causing high blood pressure and high pulse rate, faster breathing and the likes. Meditation or a condition of deep relaxation helps us to reduce these circumstances and also diminishes the metabolism and thereby helps to overcome the stress and lead a normal lifestyle. Sometimes talk therapy commonly known as counseling or psychotherapy is also used to help the patient in overcoming anxiety disorder. It works by helping people to build up a new ways to deal with problems and also to recognize and realize more about anxiety disorder and learn how to shun it in future.
