Anger is a normal human emotion, or a defense technique to react in unpleasant situations. It becomes destructive and problematic when it turns to rage. A lot of research is put in to learn the psychology of such people. It has been inferred that child abuse, family conflicts and divorce to a great extent hampers an individual’s psyche.

Expressing Anger

Anger is a natural response to threats and helps to defend oneself and survive from odd situations. Some approach the feeling with expressing, suppressing and calming. Non aggressive approach is a healthy way to deal with the situation. One has to be assertive and clear in thought without clashing others ego. Suppressing can be done by diverting his focus on something positive to result in a constructive behavior finally calming down both in the external and internal response. Breathe deeply to calm one self until the feeling subsides.

Simple relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises, recollecting the most relaxing and joyous moments in life help to calm down the nerves.

* Practice deep abdominal breathing.
* Repeat a positive phrase like ‘relax’, ‘cool’ or ‘easy’.
* Easy and slow yoga excercises help to soothe the body, mind and soul.
* Regular practice will spontaneously help one to tide over the disturbing condition.

Positive Approach

The individual has to change his stream of thoughts. Short tempered people obviously get frustrated and over dramatic. They have to be replaced by rational thinking and learn to accept the situation lightly. It helps to logically analyze and handle the problem.

Recognizing the Problem

Psychologists offer solutions to people who recognize their problems and come forward to overcome it. The very acceptance makes the person rational and has won half the battle without professional intervention. He will be able to think logically and balance his mind when faced with turbulent situation. Efforts can be taken to heal the relationship and other health problems which were the outcome of his temper tantrums. When faced with the relapsed condition deep breathing techniques and meditation can be practiced. Calming down both the internal and external emotions help to perceive the situation in a lighter vein. Difficult situations can be controlled by distracting one’s thoughts with happy episodes.
