10 Reasons to Achieve Your Dreams

Reason 1: If not now, when?

You've only got one life to live. I don't think the power of that statement has hit most of us yet. Instead, we often act like we have another spare life somewhere, so if this one is deflated it's ok. Well as your motivational mentor, I will tell you the truth. It is not ok to treat your life like a set of worn-out tires. As famous speaker and statesman Adlai Stevenson said, "It's not the years in your life, it's the life in your years that counts."

Don't let this be another year of empty resolutions. Make it a year of real results. You do that by finishing what you've started, no matter how it feels. Each of us has the power to move beyond our feelings and failures, and step into the power of an amazing life unknown.

Reason 2: That passion in your heart is a gift from God.

You are not stupid, or crazy for not wanting to "conform" to your present circumstances. You were made to create. You were placed in this moment in history for a specific purpose. The saddest thing in life is to meet people who truly feel they are a waste of space. This could not be farther from the truth. The second unfortunate case is the vast sea of people who long to do something significant but are convinced that nothing they do will change anything. That's a caseload of baloney.

Reason 3: Not following that vision makes you a thief and a robber.

You might think that statement is strong, but the truth is strong. If I spend my life trying to please everyone else by keeping it safe, then I rob the world of my talents because I am too afraid to step out and find out what I can really do in life. Imagine if Edison hadn't invented the light bulb, just because it didn't exist yet….get the point?

Reason 4: Fear doesn't need to run your life any longer.

The path to your greatest potential is often straight through your greatest fear. Too many people are not living their dreams because they are too busy living their fears. Instead of doing things out of their heart, they do them because they are afraid of what will happen if they don't. It's time to start being the person you really want to be.

Reason 5: When you follow your dreams, you'll come alive!

A life full of passion is a life that is blissfully on fire. I'll just quote the amazing leader Howard Thurman, who says this, "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and go do it. Because the world needs people who have come alive."
Ask yourself this question, 'Am I alive yet?' And if the answer to that question was no, then why not change that this year?

Reason 6: People won't know what's possible until you do it.

You may be the first person you know of trying to attempt your dream, but that's alright. Pioneers make history and inspire others. Just because it hasn't been done before, doesn't mean that it can't be done.

Reason 7: The pursuit of your dreams will help you take responsibility for your own life.

There is a wise saying that goes something like this, "Don't place your happiness in someone else's hands, because once they are gone, so is your happiness." By actually choosing to pursue that vision in your heart, you officially take the responsibility of your happiness away from life circumstances and other people. Winners do whatever it takes. You can get to anywhere from anywhere. In life, it is not so much about how you start, as how you finish.

Reason 8: There is almost no worse feeling, than staying stagnant when a vision of more is in your heart.

Think about this: How will your life look if one year from today you have not made any progress, live in the same way, or worse? How will you feel?

Proverbs 13:12 says, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life". When you are on the road to fulfilling your God-given dreams, your heart will be full of life not illness. Think about the last time you were sick. Was it fun? Then don't live another year with a sick heart, it's time to get well again by striking out on faith this year.

Reason 9: It's possible.

So many people don't step out and follow their dreams because they are under the deception that their dreams are not possible, when in reality, everything is possible! Matthew 19:26 says, "With God, everything is possible."

As a life coach, I have often seen a dramatic shift in the attitude of my clients when they tell me a grandiose dream thinking it's totally impossible, and then I mention the names of several people who have already done what they want to do. Many dreams have real-world models that can be a source of information or inspiration. Even if what you want to do is truly unique, more than likely, there are people who have done something similar that you can learn from.

Reason 10: A vision without action is just a hallucination.

The greatest failure in life is not to try. It does no good being a goal-setter, if you are not actually a goal -getter. Take action this year! I don't want you to be hallucinating anymore. It's just not healthy. True faith is belief with corresponding action. I can discern quickly what you really believe not because of what you say, but because of your actions on a daily basis.

Again, you can go anywhere from anywhere. If I decide I want to go to China tomorrow, I can. It may take me a little longer than someone who lives in Japan, but I can still get there. There is no "good place" to start. Every place is a good place to start.

So What Are You Going to Do Now?

Write down 5 things and get started today! It can't wait any longer.

Make this the year that remains in your mind forever because you decided to truly achieve your dreams! You can do it.
